Iran popular series ‘The Rise of Mokhtar’ well received in Iraq

Iranian famous TV series ‘The Rise of Mokhtar’ (Mokhtarnameh) has been well received by Iraqi audiences as well as visitors from other countries during the Arbaeen march.

The TV series was screened daily during the Arbaeen march for pilgrims visiting the holy sites in Najaf and Karbala.  

'The Rise of Mokhtar' by Davood Mir-Bagheri is among respectable works of Iranian TV productions with a theme on Imam Hussein (AS) as well as Mokhtar who vowed revenge against those who martyred the third Muslim Imam. 

Fariborz Arabnia was featured as Mokhtar in the series ‘Mokhtarnameh’ and Iranian actor Farhad Aslani played a key role as ‘Ubayd Allah Ibn Ziyad.

The epic TV series which premiered in October 2010 chronicles some of the events after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS).
